Counseling delivered either face-to face, by telephone, or in a group or class can improve your chances of quitting and staying quit. Following are some resources in our area:
- Offers free, confidential, telephone counseling to any Maine resident that wants to stop using tobacco
- Nicotine gum and the nicotine patch are available at no charge for eligible callers. If you do not have health insurance or if your insurance does not cover tobacco treatment medication or programs then the HelpLine will provide them.
- Anyone can be given information- family members, friends of a smoker
- The HelpLine is for teens too!

- Offer Thinking about Quitting presentations
- Coordinate worksite cessation programs
- Work with school nurses to provide resources for youth cessation
