- For youth grades 6-12. Focus is preventing youth tobacco use. May also plan activities that promote physical activity and good nutrition. Usually meet weekly during school year.
- Works with staff to bring about policy change for schools, businesses, recreation departments and other public venues; helps organize activities to educate the community about the dangers of secondhand smoke. Meets bi-monthly.
- Help staff coordinate programs and activities related to increasing physical activity and promotion of good nutritional practices in communities, schools and worksites. Meets bi-monthly.
- Assist staff with coordination of Work Healthy, our worksite wellness incentive program. Provide technical assistance to worksites as needed and do presentations to promote program. Meets bi-monthly.
- This committee focuses on prevention and raising awareness of asthma, cancer, diabetes, heart attack, and stroke.
- Involved in advocacy and policy change for health-related legislative issues on both the local and statewide level. Usually work via email and is active mainly during legislative sessions.
- Assists staff in recruitment of new members and nominates individuals for offices. Meets 1-2 times a year.
- Work on short-term projects. (For example, planning a special event.) May meet 2-4 times.
Help facilitate interactive sessions for youth that are caught in possession of tobacco products. Training provided. May co-facilitate 2-3 sessions a year.
Provide presentations in a variety of settings such as schools, worksites and community groups. Topics include tobacco, physical activity and nutrition. May do presentations 1-2 times a year.
Organize materials and help to staff display tables at events. May attend 1-2 events a year.
